Ferulic acid
Formula context
Ferulic acid occurs naturally in plant cell walls and is used in cosmetic formulas as an antioxidant ingredient.
Its usual companion in cosmetic formulation is a vitamin C derivative, and that pairing is common enough that seeing ferulic acid on a label is a reasonable signal that the formula is built around an antioxidant approach. Amplified Glow follows that convention, disclosing ferulic acid alongside sodium ascorbyl phosphate and vitamin E.
What Amplified Glow does not publish is how much ferulic acid the serum contains. Antioxidant ingredients can be present at levels that are functionally meaningful or at levels included primarily so they can appear on a label, and nothing on the product page distinguishes the two.
What the evidence can and cannot establish
Antioxidant activity is measurable in laboratory systems. Demonstrating that a compound has antioxidant activity in vitro is a different thing from demonstrating that a cosmetic containing it produces a visible outcome on skin.
The intermediate steps — does enough of it reach where it needs to be, does it remain stable in the formula over the product's life, does that translate into anything you can see — are not established by the underlying chemistry alone, and are not addressed by anything Amplified Glow publishes.
Claim limitations
- Antioxidant activity in a laboratory assay does not establish a visible outcome from a finished cosmetic.
- No concentration is published for ferulic acid in the Amplified Glow serum.
- Ferulic acid is not a sunscreen and nothing here suggests it substitutes for one.
- The common pairing of ferulic acid with vitamin C is a formulation convention. Its presence does not by itself establish that a given formula is well constructed.
